Chris Latta knows all about the physical and emotional toll such a move ca take on older adults. Latta learned it first hand when his 86-year-old mother faced that daunting task – and he was determined to make a difference.

The thought of making the “big” move to a scaled down condo or retirement community can be paralyzing for older people. Leaving a long-time home is emotional enough: all the details that need to be handled on top of that can be overwhelming. To alleviate both the physical and emotional strain of one of life’s major transitions, San Diego real estate broker, Chris Latta started the NuVation Company. The mission is to take the burden of moving off older people and their families by walking them through each step of the process, including the sale of the former residence.

All too often, making a move from a long-time home, complete with piano, pool table and patio furniture, to a smaller, more compact living space in a retirement community, can be more stressful than an IRS audit. Chris Latta, an innovative San Diego real estate broker, has come up with a unique answer to the question many older persons ask when facing that possibility, “Where do I start”.

The NuVation Co. was conceived on the heels of the move to a retirement company by the founder, Chris Latta’s mother. Several of his mother’s friends were going through similar ordeals, Latta said, but were not fortunate enough to have family assist them. So, in 1998, Latta founded the company the touts itself as a “senior transitioning specialist”.
