The NuVation Story
My name is Chris Latta and I am the President and Real Estate Broker for the NuVation Company. Our company resolve is to assist Senior Citizens struggling with the transition of downsizing to a new home, selling their existing home and dealing with the headache of what to do with all that extra stuff. This situation has often been viewed as overwhelming. Where to start, who to call, where to go? In 1998, I set out to create an organization which addresses all the potential needs and solves all the problems that may arise during this stressful time.
It was a weekday in early September of 1997 and I was visiting my Mother at her 55 and older condo complex in north east San Diego County. My Mother, at the time, was in her early 80’s, and many of her neighbors were around the same age or older. She spoke of two neighbors that were “desperate” to move out of their condos and into a nearby retirement community. They just could not deal with the day to day problems of living on their own. My Mother suggested that I speak with both of them about representing the sale of their homes.
After a phone call of introduction from my Mother, I met with both ladies that afternoon. Although they did not know each other very well, they shared a similar story along with similar fears and an overwhelming sense of anxiety. Neither knew where to begin, neither had family help nearby, both needed a lot of assistance, far and away from simply selling their condos. So, I offered to help. They thankfully accepted my offer and thus began the concept for the NuVation Company.
After determining the size and space limitations of the retirement apartment they selected, we began to downsize. First it was clothing, then kitchen items, then linens, and on and on. Neither of the ladies wanted to stick around while real estate agents and their clients paraded through their homes, so I hired a packing service and a moving company to get them safe and sound in their new apartments. After they were settled, an estate company purchased their unwanted personal property and the remaining contents of their apartments were given to charity. I sold the condos and set about refining my resources to make this my life’s work.
